Labels Looking to Raise On-Line Song Prices Record Labels out to screw consumers again. The five major labels think $.99 is too cheap and are thinking of charging $1.25 to $2.99 per song. Digital downloads will end up costing more than CD's.

Why does a digital file cost so much? Production? Manufacturing?
